Last updated October 14, 2026. New Mexico is still finalizing its rules, so some answers may change.

Does Thirty-Sixth Parallel LLC provide psilocybin services now?

New Mexico services are not available yet; they are pending licensure under the New Mexico Medical Psilocybin Program, and New Mexico consultation requests are not open yet. Colorado sessions are available on a limited basis under Colorado's Natural Medicine Program.

What is the New Mexico Medical Psilocybin Program?

It is New Mexico's state program for the medical use of psilocybin. The program is medical, so every participant needs a qualifying diagnosis. The program is expected to begin in January 2027. The state is still finalizing its rules, so the details on this page may change.

Who qualifies for psilocybin treatment in New Mexico?

Under the proposed rules, every participant, in state or out of state, needs a qualifying diagnosis: treatment-resistant depression, a substance use disorder (including cannabis or nicotine use disorders), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or end-of-life care. Colorado's program does not have a diagnosis requirement.

Do I have to live in New Mexico?

No. Under the proposed rules, the qualifying-diagnosis requirement applies to every participant, in state or out of state, which means people from outside New Mexico may take part if they qualify. Check the final rules once the state publishes them.

How is the New Mexico process different from Colorado's?

New Mexico is expected to require a telehealth evaluation appointment to confirm a qualifying diagnosis before treatment begins, and may require a second staff member present during the medicine session. Preparation and integration sessions are part of the process in both states.

Is psilocybin legal in Colorado?

Yes, within Colorado's regulated program. Colorado voters passed Proposition 122 in 2022, creating a regulated program for the supervised therapeutic use of psilocybin. Sessions take place at state-licensed healing centers with state-licensed facilitators. It is supervised therapeutic use, not recreational legalization.

Do you offer psilocybin sessions in Colorado?

Yes, on a limited basis, under Colorado's regulated Natural Medicine Program. Colorado's program does not require a qualifying diagnosis. To ask about availability, email [email protected].

Is psilocybin right for everyone?

No. There are specific contraindications, including a personal or family history of psychosis or schizophrenia spectrum disorders, a family history of bipolar I disorder, certain medications (especially lithium), pregnancy, and heart conditions. A careful screening process comes before any psilocybin session.

Do I need prior psychedelic experience?

No. Many people who take part have little or no prior experience with psychedelics. Preparation sessions are designed to build the understanding and internal resources needed to approach the experience safely and with intention. Good preparation and a clinically trained provider matter more than prior experience.

Can psilocybin help with perimenopause or menopause?

Research in this area is early. Emerging research and clinical experience suggest psilocybin may help with the psychological and emotional dimensions of perimenopause and menopause, such as mood changes, anxiety, depression, disrupted identity, and grief. It is not a treatment for physical symptoms such as hot flashes. Under New Mexico's program, treatment requires one of the qualifying diagnoses listed above.

How much will psilocybin treatment cost?

In Colorado, a full course of facilitation (two preparation sessions, one full-day medicine session, and two integration sessions) starts at $3,800, including access to the licensed healing center. New Mexico pricing has not been set. It will be set once the company is licensed and the state's rules are final. Because of the expected evaluation appointment and staffing requirements, New Mexico treatment may cost more than Colorado.

Do you own any other businesses?

Yes. Dr. Anne Metz owns two other businesses, each separate from Thirty-Sixth Parallel LLC. Anne Metz LLC (annemetz.com) is a counseling practice. Anne Metz LLC does not provide psilocybin services; all psilocybin services are provided through Thirty-Sixth Parallel LLC under the laws of the state where the provider is licensed. Emic Health provides billing and credentialing training for rural New Mexico clinicians.

What credentials does Dr. Metz hold for psilocybin work?

Dr. Metz holds a Colorado Natural Medicine Facilitator in Training license (License No. NMIT.0000254), issued by the Colorado Division of Professions and Occupations. She does not hold a New Mexico psilocybin license.

Where can I find other providers?

Other providers include Kate Hawke in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Jennifer Johnson, RN, in Taos, New Mexico (liveapathofheart.com, [email protected]). Thirty-Sixth Parallel LLC cannot vouch for the clinical work of other providers.
